The pictures on this page depict my love and fascination with the
waters of the lakes and the craft that ply them. Some
unforgetable sights are pictured here. Split Rock Lighthouse on the
shores of Minnesota, Duluth Harbor for a tour of a lake freighter,
passing a northbound freighters and a shipyard near the "Soo"
where the old car-ferry "Chief Wawatam" was being converted to a barge,
and the Canadian Locks as seen here being photographed by my daughter
Geri, will never be forgotten. The American Power Boat Association puts on an outboard marathon that passes my back yard every year, usually in early August. Then comes my love for the old work horses, the Fish Tugs of the lakes. I've traveled far to satisfy my curiosity of these majestic workhorses. Most are over 50ft. in length and have been through many perils. As the owners tell the stories, I get a feeling of wanting to be out in the lakes on one. Someday I'll accept one of the invitations and add the pictures to this page. |
